Ethel M. (Selleck) Quenby, 81, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000.  She 
was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Orleans, the seventh child of Charles and Myrtle 
Buckley Selleck.  She graduated from Belding High School and Stanton County 
Normal and taught for 4 years.  She was then employed by the State of Michigan 
from 1944 until she retired in 1977.

She married Milton R. Quenby on June 30, 1962.  She was a member of SERA, the 
Catholic Business Women’s, Michigan Chapter NSDFPA and St. Gerard’s Catholic 
Church.

She is survived by step-sons Richard M. Quenby, of Lansing, and Edward A. 
(Donna) Quenby, of Jackson; brothers Cleve (Janette) Selleck, of Fremont, 
Jerry G. (Celia) Selleck, of Ionia, and Dean (Mable) Selleck, of Hastings; 
sisters, Hazel Bollinger, of Ionia, Sylvia Church, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., 
and Hattie Tatosian of Pompano Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Helen Selleck, of 
Fenwick; brother-in-law, Gordon Higbee, of Orleans; five grandchildren; 11 
nieces and 10 nephews.  She was preceded in death by husband, Milton in 1987; 
brothers, J.B. and Charles Selleck and sister, Addie Higbee.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 at St. 
Gerald’s Catholic Church with the Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating.  
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation is Sunday 
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service at 
the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  

Mrs. Quenby will lie in state at the church from 11:30 p.m. until mass time on 
Monday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
