Quisenberry, age 83, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013. He was preceded in death by the parents, Benjamin and Nellie Quisenberry; his sister, Lucy; his brother, Floyce; and his son, Mike. Royal will be lovingly remember by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Quisenberry; his children, Judy (John) Durrant of Portland, Kathy (John) Thomas of Lake Odessa, Laura ( Rick) Huver of Lowell, Paula (Dale) Jones of Lake Odessa, Amy (Jerry) Center of Reno, NV. Anna (Tim) Hooten of Ionia, Joe (Darcy) Quisenberry of Sunfield; his daughter-in-law, Deb Quisenberry of Middleville; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; his sister, Clarice Phillips of Gladwin; and several nieces and nephews. Royal graduated from Mecosta High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On June 13, 1953, he married Dorothy Thompson. After 22 years, he retired from Gen Corp. Automotive in Ionia and was a member of the United Furniture Workers. Royal belonged to the Church of God in Grandville, where he was a member of the men’s club. He enjoyed working on cars or around his farm, especially planting gardens. Those who knew him would remember his story telling and his love for his family. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Lakewood United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gary McConnaughey officiating. Interment will be at the Fuller Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Royal’s family Sunday, January 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Home, Lake Odessa. Contributions in memory of Royal may be made to Spectrum Hospice or to the Independent Band in Portland for the Emersyn Durant/Rhett Syndrome.
