John Joseph Rademacher of Spokane, Wash., was born Nov. 1, 1940 in Grand 
Rapids, to John Lawrence and Beatrice Bessie Boynton Rademacher. John graduated 
from Ionia High School in 1958 and from Albion College in 1962. In Detroit, he 
married Merrilie Jo Savery in 1965 and graduated from Wayne State University 
School of Medicine in 1966.

Following an intern year at Los Angeles County Hospital, he served two  years 
in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. John completed his 
residency training in radiology at Oregon Health & Science University in 
Portland, Ore,. eventually joining in practice for 20 years at Blue Mountain 
Diagnostic Imaging in Pendleton, Oregon. In 1993 he was appointed department 
head at the Walla Walla, VA Medical Center. John later joined Inland Imaging in 
Spokane, Wash., retiring in December 2010 after 44 years of practice.

John is loved and survived by his two sons, Joseph Allen Boynton (Jessica) 
Rademacher of Clackamas, Ore., and Brooks Lawrence Savery Rademacher of 
Rochester, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jacen Patrick DeLair Rademacher and Jaina 
Grace Jaclyn Rademacher of Clackamas; his sister, Janet Rademacher Baker of 
Walla Walla, Wash.; and the mother of his children, Merrilie Savery Rademacher 
of Pendleton, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant grandson, Joseph Allen 
Boynton Rademacher, Jr. 

During his time at Inland Imaging in Spokane, Wash., John enjoyed working 
closely with his colleagues, consistently stating that his practice benefited 
greatly from their readily available expertise. He often took advantage of 
opportunities to train Radiology residents and technicians, and was honored to 
speak at the technician graduation ceremony each year.

Beyond his family and friends, John grew to love music, having lived in and 
near Detroit during the popular Motown era. John's other hobbies included 
travel to Hawaii, Mexico, and the Oregon Coast, spending hours in search of the 
latest music in Portland, and being an avid Gonzaga Basketball fan. 

After a fearless and determined fight against cancer, John passed peacefully at 
the Hospice of Spokane house on Oct. 26, surrounded by friends and family.

A Celebration of Life was held Nov. 3 in Spokane, Wash., at the home of one of 
John's dear friends. It was a time of sharing tears, laughs, music, and 
memories with his family and friends.
