March 9, 2013 LAKE ODESSA, MI – Gladys Juestina Ralbovsky, Lake Odessa, formerly of Lansing. Eulogy Mom passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born August 16, 1926 in Detroit. She spent most of her life in Lansing. In 2006 she moved to Lake Odessa where she lived with her daughter Geraldine (Jerry) and son-in-law Chad Kolodizieizyck. In 1968 she began work at Total Service Station in 1801 N. Grand River, Lansing. In 1973 she was promoted to station manager and retired in 1988, after 20 years of service. She loved her job and cared about her customers. Because of the service she provided and her caring ways many personal friendships developed. Running from the station to serve her customers was her friendly greeting “Hello how can I help you” to her standard “Have a good day” at the end of the transaction. I sometimes think she coined that phrase. Until about six months before her death she still communicated with some of her customers and delivery people. She was a hard worker, quick witted, had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. No one was a stranger to her for long. She would strike up a conversation with a stranger while shopping or anywhere there were people. She loved to shop, her favorite store was Goodwill. Hours could be spent in a single trip, and that is not an exaggeration. Often during a Goodwill visit I would be found sitting on a chair waiting for mom to finish shopping. She loved animals especially our little dog, Zoey. Preceding her in death was her husband, Joseph, 1999, and her sister, Naomi Weldon (Church) 1991. Surviving are daughters, Ruth (Gordon) Hopkins, Geraldine (Chad) Kolodizieizyck, Linda (Bill) Fritch, Diana Lambright, Karen (David) Robinson; many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren; special friends, Anne Bengel, Marion and Norman Harris and Wayne Smith. Thank you to Grace Hospice, Okemos, Visiting Physicians Assoc., Okemos, and Whitehills Health Care Center, East Lansing. Sincerest thanks to all of you. As requested she has been cremated and there will be no service. Cremation provided by Skinner Funeral Home in Lansing.
