Virgil D. Ralston, 79, of Ionia, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.

He was born on Dec. 8m 1930, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Clifford and Ida Mae 
(Randall) Ralston. Mr. Ralston served in the United States Marine Corps during 
the Korean War from 1951-1959. He worked at General Motors – Oldsmobile Plant 
for 28 ˝ years before retiring in 1988. He loved hunting deer, was a good 
mechanic who loved building motors and raced stock cars in the late 1940’s.

Surviving are his children, Donald Ralston of Ionia, Scott (Julie Ackerson) 
Ralston of Ionia, and Dureen Ralston Leland of Lyons; grandchildren, 
Christopher Michel Ralston, Jenna Jean Ralston, Jennal Grace Ralston (Brandon) 
Harder, Jenea Marie Ralston, Michael Scott (Alicia) Ralston, Shayna Jayne 
Ackerson, and Morgan Katherine Ralston; great –grandchildren, Nicholas 
Christopher Ralston, Shelby Ann Ralston, and Carter Michael Ralston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harold Dunkel.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Ionia, with the Rev. Bert Nelson officiating. 
Interment will take place in the spring at Highland Park Cemetery, Ionia. The 
family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 
p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
