He was born March 26, 1881 in Arkansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Ralston, and spent his childhood in Ohio. In 1906 he moved to Michigan and worked in the North Maniteau Island and Traverse City lumber mills. He was married March 17, 1911 to Cora E. Goins who died in October 1961. Mr. Ralston had lived in Ionia since 1928. He is survived by five sons, Orville, Gerald, Arnold, and Harold Ralston of Ionia, and Virgil of Camp Lake, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Rittenburgh and Mrs. Gyneth DeKorn of Ionia, and Mrs. Neva Griffith of Montague; two brothers, Clyde Ralston of Lansing and Clifford of Gaylord; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death. Funeral service will be conducted at Myers funeral home Monday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Floyd Emshwiller, pastor of First Christian church, will officiate and burial will be at Tuttle cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home at 7 o’clock Friday evening to receive friends.
