The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, September 23, 1940

Solomon J. Randall, 85-year-old Barry county farmer and a former Ionia 
resident, died Sunday evening at 10 o’clock at his farm home four miles south 
of Hastings.  He had been ill several weeks.

Born in New York State, he came to Ionia where he married and was the father 
of 14 children, nine of whom are living.  He moved to Hastings 10 years ago.

Surviving children are Peter of Hastings, Willard of Kalamazoo, Oliver, 
Clarence and Andrew of Ionia; Asa of Hastings, Mrs. Bora Semington of Lowell, 
Ella Randall of Ionia and Mary Schreiner of Grand Ledge.  Three brothers, 
Albert, Theodore, and Charles, of Ionia also survive.

Funeral services will be held from the Myers funeral home in Ionia Wednesday 
at 2 p.m.  Rev. Frederick Dunsbar will officiate and interment will be at 
Tuttle cemetery.
