He was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Orange Twp., the son of Wilma (McCoy) and Otto Willard Randall. He was united in marriage to Berniece Ellen Herbert on May 6, 1944 at the home of her parents in Perry, Mich. Mr. Randall graduated from Palo High School in 1940. After that he left for Ypsilanti and found work at Central Specialty Foundry, before moving back to Ionia and working 39 1/2 years at Gibson & Electrolux in Belding and Greenville. While living in Belding for 25 years, he was one of the organizers of Little League Baseball and served for several years as President. He was a member of Green Corners Baptist Church and managed their softball league for many years as well. About 15 years ago Avie and Bea moved to Ionia and became members of Lincoln Ave. Baptist Church. Avie and his wife were members of the National Campers and Hikers Association as well as Charter members of the Christian Family Campers with the Montcalm Travelers. After retirement they spent many winters at Bibleville in Alamo, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bea, their children, Bonnie (Stanley) Rumphol of Allegan, Kenneth (Donna Woodard) Randall of Three Rivers, Dr. Virginia (Ginger) Randall and Starl (Wendy Mauk) Randall of Grand Rapids, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, June Townsend of Ionia, Betty Gulledge of Roseville and Linda Syrjala of Ionia as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Lincoln Ave Baptist Church with Pastor Darren Tharp officiating. Interment Tuttle Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday 5 to 7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and Thursday 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ionia County Commission of Aging or the American Cancer Society.
