Deceased was born near Pewamo in 1865, and for years had been prominently identified with the business and political life of the village and township. He was a favorite among all classes, and the love and esteem in which he was held was shown by the attendance at his funeral, which is said to have been the largest ever held in Pewamo. In 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Blanche Clark, to whom was born one son, Fred, now 12 years of age. The wife died some 12 years ago. At the time of his death deceased was serving his first term as postmaster of Pewamo and was also engaged in the grocery business. He was a Republican in politics and had held several offices in the township and village and was a deputy sheriff at the time of his decease.
