A. Ranger Friday afternoon, February 16, 1906, aged 78 years, 10 months and 29 years. She suffered a stroke of paralysis several months ago, from which she never rallied. Deceased was one of the most conscientious women we ever knew and her loving devotion to her invalid husband through years of helplessness was such as to endear her to everyone and showed forth the Christian spirit that she always possessed. The funeral was held at the home of Howard A. Ranger on Sunday afternoon, C. E. Jameson of Grace Episcopal church conducting the service. The singing was furnished by Messers. Baker and Strong and Mrs. Baker and Miss Marshall with Mrs. Henderson as accompanist. The following obituary was read: Mary Ann Purcell was born in Padwerth Berkshire, England March 17, 1827, and passed away at the home of her step-son Howard Ranger February 16th, 1906. Her last days were those of suffering, but she was ministered to by loving hearts and gentle hands. Same came to this country in the year 1867; was married to Henry Ranger (now deceased) Oct. 25th, 1875. Mrs. Ranger has always identified herself with every movement for the good of the town. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, but for many years gave of her time and strength to the aide of the Methodist church. She was one of the founders of the Ladies Library, and acted as librarian for several years, the wish for its success lay deep in her heart. Mrs. Ranger will be held in loving remembrance by her step-children, to whom she was a loving and sympathetic mother, and by all who ever knew her. The least we can say as we lay her to rest is “A good woman gone.” The all bearers were F. T. Gleason, H. Hitchcock, J. R. Dougherty and A. S. Bunnell. Interment in Lyons cemetery. Card of Thanks: We wish to express our sincere thanks to the neighbors and friends who kindly assisted at the death and burial of our mother, also for the floral offerings. Mary A.
