Ranger, 76, of 925 Isham, Lyons, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning while en route to Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids. Death was due to a diabetic condition. Born in Lyons July 6, 1898, he was the son of Walter and Verna Dilley Ranger. He was a graduate of Lyons high school and veteran of World War I. He farmed the family farm a short time and was at one time employed at Michigan Reformatory and the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Company. He also worked at Chillicothe, Ohio, as a foreman in the prison industries foundry retiring from there in 1959. He then returned to Lyons. March 30, 1921 he was married to Margaret Peckins and she died April 20, 1964. Among his survivors are three sons, Francis of Lomac, Calif., Charles of Uma, Ariz., and Howard L. of Lyons; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Walsh of Waverly, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church of Portland and the American Legion post at Chillicothe, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick church at Portland. Interment will be at the Portland cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hull Memorial chapel at Muir.
