Greenville Industrialist Died Tuesday.

Friends in this city learned with regret, Tuesday morning of the death of Ellis
W. Ranney, aged 68 years, that morning in the hospital at Greenville, where he
had been only a few hours after having been a patient at Battle Creek sanitarium
where he went about a month ago.  He had been in poor health for several years,
but had never lost his fine spirit of friendship and deep interest in the
affairs of his home city of Greenville, or of this, his native city, where he
was born on February 23, 1878, and where he received his early education.  His
last visit to this city was when he called on many of his old time friends and
acquaintances.

Mr. Ranney was the son of the late Fred E. Ranney and wife and graduated from
the Belding schools with the class of 1896 and from Michigan State college in
1900.  At about that time the Ranney family went to Greenville and founded the
Ranney Refrigerator Co., after having been engaged in the same line of
manufacture in this city and Ellis Ranney was associated with the company during
all these years.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Greenville
Congregational church and burial will be made in Otisco cemetery west of this
city.
