Aug. 16 & Thurs. Aug. 19, 1965 Kenneth W. Ransom, 44, of 664 North Jackson, and a World War II veteran, died Sunday afternoon in Grand Rapids Veterans Facility hospital following an illness of several years. He had been a patient since 1963. A self-employed carpenter, Mr. Ransom was also employed several years at Mitchell Bentley corporation. He was born in Ionia March 14, 1921, son of Oliver and Amanda Howard Ransom, and was married July 17, 1942 to Lenabelle Motcheck. He was a graduate of Ionia high school and a corporal with the 547th headquarters battalion, anti-aircraft artillery, in the European theater during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lenabelle; one son, Larry, and three daughters, Dawne, Lynette and Michielle at home; his mother, Mrs. Amanda Ransom and two brothers, Howard and Gordon of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Gustafson of Grand ledge and Mrs. Bernice Reyburn of Kent City. Funeral service will be at St. John Lutheran church at 2 p.m., Wednesday with the Rev. Marvin Hueller officiating. Interment will be in Balcom cemetery. Contributions will be accepted for St. John Lutheran Church for a memorial. The body will be at Boynton__________________________________________ till time of service. Kenneth W. Ransom Funeral service was conducted at St. John Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon for Kenneth W. Ransom, 44, who died Sunday in Grand Rapids Veteran Facility hospital following a long illness. The Rev. Marvin Hueller officiated and burial was at Balcom cemetery. Bearers were Burton Stencel, Richard Drake, Ronald Reister and Dean Gibbs.
