Ransom, 81, died unexpectedly at his home, 409 Division street, Saturday afternoon. He was born in Muskegon county July 31, 1878, the son of Thomas and Ellen Gates Ransom. December, 1904 he was married in Orleans township to Amanda Howard. They lived in Kent county two years, Greenville five years and on a farm in Ionia county for 20 years. They had resided at their present home on Division street the past 25 years. Mr. Ransom was employed at the Ionia Manufacturing company and its predecessor, Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co. 20 years and until his retirement in 1953. He was a former member of the Gleaners association. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Howard, Gordon and Kenneth of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Clare Reyburn of Kent City and Mrs. Albert Gustafson of Grand Ledge; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Rogers of Conklin; three brothers, Charles, Roy and George of Casnovia; 13 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at the Boynton funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Heath T. Goodwin, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Garden Shrines.
