James was born April 11, 1985 in Grand Rapids the son of Lawrence and Marshelle Kerns-Rasch. James was a big fan of the University of Notre Dame and The Detroit Pistons. He was on the football team at Central Montcalm High School where he graduated with the class of 2003. He loved all types of music and was a kind and loving son, brother and friend. James will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. James was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Kerns. He is survived by his father, Larry Rasch of Belding; his mother, Marshelle and Steve Tanner of Stanton; sisters and brothers, Jennifer and William Ostermeyer of Toana, Va., Denise and Erik Eiswirth of Chesterfield, Mo., Christopher Rasch of Stanton; step brother, Jacob Tanner of Stanton; grandparents, Carl and Julia Rasch of Lowell, Rose Kerns of Grand Rapids; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam with Father Troy A. Nevins presiding. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, and then from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam, with a Rosary prayed at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary Church or The American Red Cross.
