Nels Rasmussen died Saturday forenoon at his home at 815 Pearl street, as the
result of a heart attack.  He had mowed his lawn that morning and was assisting
with the household tasks when stricken.  He was born in Montcalm county November
19, 1874, the son of Andrew J. and Mary Rasmussen, and had been a farmer in that
county all his life until he retired four years ago and bought the home here. 
Mr. Rasmussen was a member of the South Sidney Lutheran church, where he was the
first young person to be confirmed in the new church.

He was married in 1901 to Mary Petersen of Gowen.  Survivors are Mrs. Rasmussen;
one son, Orval, of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Tina Skroder, of Greenville
and two brothers, Peter of Greenville and Frank of RFD 3.

A prayer service was held at the home at 1:30 Tuesday and the funeral service,
in charge of Fitzjohn Funeral Home, was held at South Sidney church at 2:30,
Rev. C.A. Stub officiating and burial was in South Sidney cemetery.
