She was born Jan. 17, 1943 in Belding, the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Gasper) Engemann. She was raised in the Belding area attending the Belding Area Schools. Jean graduated from Central Michigan University of attaining a bachelor’s degree in history. On Feb. 1, 1964, Jean married the love of her life, Chris Rasmussen, in Belding at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Jean, a devoted mother and homemaker, also worked as a licensed practical nurse at Alma Hospital for five to six years, as a probation officer for Judge Simon for four to five years and as a program associate for Michigan State University Extension for approximately two years. She also maintained the family farm records for many years. Jayne was a member of the St. Mary Margaret Alacoque Church in Edmore, the Montcalm County Art Association and a past member of the Montcalm County We Care for Kids Council. She enjoyed painting, traveling, RV’ing, flower gardening, spending time socializing with her friends and spending time with her family. Jean is survived by her husband, Chris; and their five children; Michael and Sonja Rasmussen and their children Jesse, Wilbert and Gracie of McBride, Jodie and Al Percha and their children Gavin, Karli and Aiden of Mount Pleasant, Amy and Tom Clark and their children Sydney and Alexandria of Boston, Mass., Ryan and Jenna Rasmussen and their son Lucien of Edmore, Paige and Patrick Fuller and their children Ethan, Andrew and Lillien of McBride; her mother-in-law, Betty Rasmussen of Edmore; one sister, Margaret and Lee Spencer of Belding; and numerous family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary Margaret Alacoque Church in Edmore with Father Britto officiating. The family will receive friends at visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore.
