Dec. 12, 1924 Little Maxwell George Rathbun, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Rathburn, was born in lake Odessa, November 21, 1915 and died December 4, 1924, at the age of 9 years and 13 days, when he met with a fatal accident after leaving home at noon for school. Maxwell was a child who made friends among all whom he met. His face radiated the happy spirit of his heart, making others happy about him. He was all that could be expected in a little boy. Maxwell leaves to mourn his departure his father and mother a brother, Maurice, and two sisters and Maxine and Maudaline, also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rathbun. He will be greatly missed by his classmates, teachers, and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the Calvary U.B. Church, Saturday, December 6, conducted by Rev. M.H. Dawson. A male quartette consisting of Messrs. George Kart, Will and Leon Gilson and Merlin Morgan sang with Mrs. Pearl Gilson accompanist. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Trumpower of Branch, Mr. and Mrs. George Cooper of Royal Oak, Mrs. Will Parkinson of Royal Oak, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Fender and family of Weidman, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Frantz of Weidman, Mrs. John Tyler of Barryton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kennedy of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Trumpower of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs.William Hough and family of Barryton, Mr. and Mrs. James Cole of Ionia, Mr. and Mrs. George Graham of Nashville, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hebble of Woodland, Mrs. Grace Warner and baby of Grand Rapids and Miss Mabel Ruftile of Jackson. CARD OF THANKS The family of Clark Rathbun take this opportunity to express sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to the neighbors, Royal Neighbors, Maccabees, Maxwell’s classmates and teachers, also other pupils and teachers, the Girl Scouts, employees of Smith Brothers & Velte, the Minister, singers, and the many other friends whose services and sympathy were of such inestimable value during the hours of our bereavement.
