Ionia County News - Thurs. Sept. 11, 1924


Mrs. Minnie Stebbins, Rathburn died at the home of her mother, Mrs. Rebecca 
Buchanan, Thursday noon, September 4, after a long illness. For nearly 19 years 
Mrs. Rathburn had poor health, but the last two years she has needed a great 
deal of care. Her daughter, Mrs. Grace Hunter, came here from lansing over a 
year ago to help care for her. She was born in Easton Township December 21, 
1860, and when a young woman, married Ransom Rathburn of that place. She leaves 
three children, Stanley of Keene, Irving of Albion and Mrs. Grace Hunter of 
this place. Besides the children, she leaves her mother of 86 years and one 
brother, Irving Stebbins, of this place.

The funeral was held from her mother’s home Sunday at 2 o’clock. Music was 
furnished by Mrs. Emma Hay and Mrs. May McKay, Rev. W.L. Halladay had charge of 
the services. This is the third funeral from that home since the last of 
December and the eighth one from the family in the last 10 months. She was a 
member of the M.E. church and the W.C.T.U.
