Raymond passed away Sunday morning at his home in this village, aged 75 years and nine months. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 10 p.m., Rev. I.T. Waldon officiating. Burial at Marble cemetery, Keene, under Masonic auspices. George A. Raymond, son of Truman and Catherine Raymond, was born in Madison County, N.Y., May 22, 1840 and was one of a family of ten children, only two of whom are now living, Mrs. George Sparks of Barryton and Mrs. ____ Wilson of Grand Rapids. The family came to Michigan and settled in Keene when Mr. Raymond was 13 years old and had lived there ever since until about a month ago, when he moved to this village. Mr. Raymond was united in marriage to Norah E. Sayles March 24, 1867, and five children blessed this union. The widow and four of the children, Frank G. of Lowell, Mrs. Myrtle I. Sinclair of Bowne Center and Fred N. and Mrs. Mary O. Hunter of Saranac, survive, Sarah Elizabeth having died in infancy. For more than sixty years Mr. Raymond lived in Keene following the honorable vocation of farming and Lowell was his place of business and the center of many warm, old time friendships. His home on Section 19, Keene, was always hospitable and his neighbors always found the latch string hanging on the outside and a warm welcome within. He held a life certificate of membership with the Lowell Masonic lodge, granted after an affiliation of forty years, and endeavored to exemplify the noble precepts of the order in his daily life. After a decline of two years and an illness of one year, on Monday morning last the Grand Master of the Universe called our brother “from labor to refreshment.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/r/raymond2428nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
