Raymor, 41, of 429 Allen street, passed away Wednesday afternoon at University hospital in Ann Arbor following brain surgery. He was removed from his home on Allen street Sunday to the hospital. He had been commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Ionia for several years. Mr. Raymor was born July 11, 1917 at Clare, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Raymor. He moved to Ionia at the age of six years, where he had lived the past 35 years, and attended Ionia public schools. He was married April 5, 1946 in Ionia to Hazel McDonald. He was employed at Ionia Manufacturing Co at the time of his recent illness. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church, CIC class, Brotherhood class of the EUB church and was the present commander of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post of Ionia. He was also a staff sergeant in World War II, serving with Co. F., 13th infantry division. Mr. Raymor saw service at Rhineland in Central Europe where he was wounded and received the purple heart award. Surviving are his wife, Hazel; two daughters, Kathryn and Aris at home; his mother, Mrs. Howard Raymor of Ionia; three brothers, Elwood of Greenville, Robert of North Muskegon and Kent of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Robinson of Inglewood, Calif., and Mrs. Betty Hoy of Ionia. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Phelps funeral chapel. Rev. John Price of Zion EUB church will officiate. Interment will be in Balcom cemetery.
