The Ionia Sentinel, Friday, July 14, 1939
Funeral services for Ernest L. Read, 46, who died Monday at his residence at 
473 Rice Street, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Myers funeral home with 
Father C. M. Farney of St. Paul’s Episcopal church in Grand Rapids 
officiating.  

Foremen of the Ypsilanti-Reed attended in a group as did the vestry of the St. 
John’s Episcopal church.

Bearers were Paul Leslie, Gustave Kauffman, Gus Gott and William Klein.  
Interment was in Balcom cemetery.

Relatives and friends attending from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Percy 
Read, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Read, Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Read, Mrs. Priscilla 
Richmond, Mrs. Bertha Wicks, all of Lowell, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Hansbarger of 
Charlotte, Mrs. R. A. Keller of Findlay, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Buchanan, 
Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Thurston and Mr. and Mrs. Jim 
Wilson, member of the Canadian Legion with which Read was affiliated.
