  Excerpts from Grand Rapids Obituary

  Percy J. Read in truck roll over accident on US131 North of Manton.

Died Tuesday October 10, 1944-age 54 of Lowell,MI at Mercy Hospital,Cadillac.
Percy was past President of Grand Rapids Milk Producers Association.
Was a former Vergennes township farmer, operated a farm implement store.
Percy for 28 years held some township offices in  Vergennes-Supervisor, 
Constable, Justice of Peace, Highway Commissioner & Clerk.
Surviving are the widow, Ethel, son Sgt.William overseas, three daughters, 
Mrs.Marian Baker & Mrs.Louis Oesch & Gertrude Read of Lowell & his parents, Mr. 
& Mrs.Thomas W.Read of Vergennes.
Another son, James, was drowned in the Southwest Pacific in 1942.
