Jerry Vaughan “Old Dawg” Reams, aged 73, of Ionia passed away Dec. 14, 2007.

He was born November 25, 1934 in Martin, Tenn., the son of Cleatus and Julia 
(Ray) Reams. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the 
Michigan Reformatory in 1994 after 26 and a half years of service. He was a 
member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of 
Columbus. He was a lifetime member of the Sheridan VFW. Jerry loved all sports 
especially baseball. He had a passion for teaching the love of the game to 
many young men. He coached several years in the Ionia Youth League and served 
as a pitching coach for Ionia and Portland high schools. He loved his family 
very much and especially his grand babies and his faithful companion Jeb.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Rosemary Reams of Ionia; his 
children Elena (Jeff) Brooks of Portland, Tondra Morris and Brent Bowerman of 
Ionia, Jason (Tricia) Reams of Ionia and Bradley Brady of California; 
grandchildren, Mary, Kahlib, Mark, Julia, Dawson, Brynn, Lilly and sister-in 
law Sue Reams.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bobbie and Ted Reams, 
Betty Jean Grubb and Dorothy Jane Reams.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter & Paul Church in 
Ionia with Father Peter Schafer celebrant. The family will receive friends and 
family Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. 
There will be a rosary service Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu 
of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a family choice.
