L. REDEMSKY, BUSINESS MAN, DIES TUESDAY R. L. Redemsky, 82, for 32 years an Ionia business man and a former Ionia city marshal, died at the home of his son, Erwin Redemsky, early Tuesday morning. He had been ill for several years. Born and married in Germany Mr. Redemsky came to Ionia 58 years ago from Rochester, New York. On May 20, 1880, he was married in Germany to Bertha Speckin. There were six children surviving as well as 14 grandchildren. In Ionia Mr. Redemsky had founded the Redemsky & Son coal business which is now being operated by his son, Erwin Redemsky. He was active in Ionia city affairs during his life here. He was paint foreman at the Pere Marquette railroad shops and was city marshal from 1894 until 1902. This year was his first when he was unable to vote. Funeral services are to be held from the St. Paul Lutheran church of which he was a member, Friday afternoon. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery. Surviving are four sons, Reinhold of Detroit, William, Fred and Erwin of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Schnell of Ionia and Mrs. Lee Alvord of Grand Rapids. Erwin Redemsky is an Ionia city supervisor; William, a former alderman and now a school board member, Fred was formerly a teacher at Creston high school in Grand Rapids as well as at Burton Heights, and is now teaching classes in defense engineering at Ionia high school and Reinhold, a former Ionia alderman and mayor. R. L. REDEMSKY (Apr. 18, 1942) Funeral services for R. L. Redemsky, Ionia businessman, who died Tuesday, April 14, were held Friday. A prayer service was held at 2:00 p.m. at the home and services were held at the St. Paul Lutheran church at 2:30 with Rev. Theodore Strauss officiating. In charge of seating the people were Carl Zanders and Frank Ammon. Floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Carl Zanders, Miss. Ida Twaites, Herbert Erridge and William Pinnow. Pall bearers were Louis Redemsky, Leonard Speckin, Reinhold Snell, James Alvord, Reinhold Redemsky and Erwin Redemsky, jr. Burial was in the family lot in Highland Park cemetery. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Redemsky and Reinhold, jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Schafer and Carl Bielow of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. James Alvord of Dearborn; Miss Bertha Alvord of Freemont, and Mr. and Mrs. William Heintz of Chicago, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Alvord, William Speckin, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Rorbacher, all of Grand Rapids; Fred Speckin, Mrs. Maggie Shellharmer, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Tow, Mrs. Hugo Hein, all of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Speckin, Fred Speckin, sr., Miss Ethel Speckin, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schafer, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Schneider, and George Schneider, all of Saginaw; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Redemsky, Jane Ann and Betty Lee of Reed City; and Mrs. Clara Speckin of Big Rapids. R. L. REDEMSKY (Apr. 15, 1942) Funeral services for R. L. Redemsky, 82, Ionia business man for 32 years who died Tuesday morning, will be held from St. Paul Lutheran church, East Washington and Rich streets, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. A prayer service will be conducted at the home, 7 Stevenson Place, at 2 o'clock.
