Ionia Daily Sentinel, 9 Jun 1958

Mrs. Mary Harriett Reed, 83, died Monday morning at Ionia County memorial 
hospital where she had been a patient four days.  Born in Clayton county, 
Indiana March 24, 1875, she was the daughter of William S. and Susannah 
(Mundell) Douglas.  In 1896 she was married to Charles Elmer Reed, who died in 
1908.

Mrs. Reed lived in Ionia intermittently for several years with her daughter, 
Mrs. Gladys Bauer of 341 ½ East Main street.  She was a member of the Convenant 
Baptist church of Detroit, the Woodman Circle Lodge of Frankfurt, Indiana, and 
a former member of the OES of Bloomington, Indiana.

Surviving are one son, Carl B. Reed, Pompano Beach, Fla. two daughters, Mrs. 
Fred Call of Detroit and Mrs. Gladys Bauer of Ionia; five grandchildren; four 
great-grandchildren; two brothers, William H. Douglas of Hoopeston, Ill, and 
Mourland A. Douglas of Minneapolis, Minn., and one sister, Mrs. Robert Staley 
of Attica, Indiana.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at the Harris funeral home on West 
McNichols road, Detroit.
