Eaton Rapids Flashes Shopper's Guide - Feb. 1, 2011


Allen Robert Reed of Leslie, passed away January 22, 2011 at the age of 82. He 
was born August 14, 1928 in Portland, MI., the son of Leo and Sadie (Huhn) 
Reed. Allen married Coral Fernald on March 27, 1949 at the Baptist church in 
Leslie. They celebrated 61 years of marriage. Allen was a US Army veteran of 
WWII at the Korean Wars. He worked for Jackson Drop Forge and retired after 31 
years of service. Allen enjoyed gardening, watching the Detroit Tigers and 
coaching his children’s softball teams.

He is survived by  his wife, Coral Reed of Leslie; daughters, Susan Reed of 
Hastings, Denise Reed of Lansing; sons, Michael Reed of Leslie, Jeffrey 
(Debbie) Reed of Jackson, Timothy (Patty) Reed of Harrison, Scott Reed of 
Leslie; grandchildren, Brian, Brandy, Shawn, Jacob Reed; great-grandchildren, 
Taylor Reed, Aubree Rhode, Peyton Reed, T.J. Rhode; brother William Reed of 
Portland. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held January 27, 2011 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 
518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Pastor Elmer Burk officiated. Interment followed 
at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane
