The Ionia Sentinel, Thursday, February 15, 1900

Charles P. Reed, aged 83, started to walk from the home of his niece in Danby 
to another relative’s place, a mile distant.  Yesterday his body was found in 
a field 60 rods from his destination.  It had been there 10 days, and its 
position indicated that he had dropped dead.  An inquest was held.  His home 
was at Hastings.
