The Belding Banner, Thursday, July 25, 1968


Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Fitzjohn-Courser Funeral Home 
for Carl T. Reed, 88, who died July 17 at Belding Community Hospital following 
a two week illness.  

Rev. Wilford D. Wood officiated.  Pallbearers were members of Mr. Reed’s 
family.  Interment was at Deep Dale Memorial Park at Lansing.

Mr. Reed was born April 1, 1880 in Grattan township.  His grandfather was the 
first white child born in the city of Grand Rapids.  Reed’s Lake at East Grand 
Rapids is named after the family.

Mr. Reed was a retired employee of the Reo Motor Car Company.  He had been a 
resident of route three for the past eight years.
