Reed aged 75 years, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Byron F. Brown, in Charlotte, Saturday, were brought to this city and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sumner H. Wilson, from where the funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. H.S. Ellis, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating and burial was in River Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Reed had been a resident of this city for more than 20 years and had endeared herself to all those who had made her acquaintance. An obituary of her passing is as follows: Jane Ann Miller was born in Sandusky, Ohio, September 30, 1852, passed from this life September 24, 1927. She was married January 1st, 1868 to Clark Parshall Reed, who died in 1917. Two sons and four daughters were born to this union and all are living. She had been a member of the church for many years, uniting with the local Congregational church when she and her husband moved to Belding in 1906 to be near their children. Thus we chronicle the outstanding events in the life of this good woman, but in between we vision the eager and happy days of childhood, young womanhood and on into married life, the coming of children, grand children and then great grandchildren, with all the attendant sunshine and shadows of the average life. Together with her chosen mate she had also pioneered in the earlier Dakota days some 40 years ago. But through all the ups and downs she was always the same sweet character we all have known her. In later years since the loss of her husband her life has been taken up with interest in her children and their growing families. Three weeks ago she went to Charlotte to be with her daughter for the winter and it was there that her long and useful life came to an end. All of her sons and daughters were able to visit her during her last illness. And so she has come to the end of the journey, surrounded by those she loved and in whom her whole life interest was centered. We shall miss her, yes. But we are happy in the rest and peace that have come to her at the end of life’s voyage now that she has gone to join her beloved consort.
