The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, December 22, 1920


Sarah Jane Reed, aged sixty-two years, died suddenly of apoplexy, Tuesday 
morning, December 7, at the home of her cousin, D. O. McVeigh, in Ionia.

She was the eldest of six children, four of who are living, namely, Mrs. James 
Corey, Britton, S. Dak.; Byron McVeigh, Aberdeen, S. Dak., Mrs. Eli Eldrige, 
Carson City; and George McVeigh, who lives on the old homestead and with whom 
she made her home.  One daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Hamlin, of Carson City, also 
survives her.  

The funeral was held Friday at the home of Geo. McVeigh, Rev. W. S. Phillips 
officiating.  Interment was made in the East Plains cemetery.  Those from out 
of town were: Byron McVeigh, Aberdeen, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Leon McVeigh and 
Mr. and Mrs. Don McVeigh, Ionia; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vance and Mrs. Allie 
Ritenger, Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Eli Eldridge and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur 
Hamlin, Carson City; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McVeigh, Vickeryville, Henry Hitchcock, 
Pewamo; Jas. Ruel, Lyons.
