Ionia Standard – Friday, 26 December 1890

At the age of 65 years, John Reed died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank 
C. Miller, at 4 o’clock of Tuesday afternoon.  He had been in failing health 
for a considerable time, and during the several months last past, has required 
close attention.  Funeral services will be held at place where he died on 
Friday, and the remains will be taken to Keene township for interment.  Mr. 
Reed was a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, but was an old member of this 
community, having located in Keene in 1852.  His wife, and one child, Mrs. 
Miller, alone survive him.
