Oct. 19, 1950 Dies Sunday--- Heart Attack is Fatal to Ray O. Reed A heart attack proved fatal to Ray O. Reed, 58, last Sunday evening. He passed away at St. Lawrence hospital after having been stricken while at work sweeping the streets in the downtown area of Portland, early Sunday morning. Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church. Rev. Fr. Louis Flohe officiating. Burial was in Portland cemetery. The Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at the Neller Funeral home. Casket bearers were Rudy Shay, Ben Sykes, Frank Day, Charles Sprout, Ernest Pung and Clarence Barnes. American Legion Member Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Mrs. Georgetta Getts, of Ionia, and Hazel May Reed, at home; sons, John, Raymond and Charles, all at home. Mrs. Nancy Jarvis, Mrs. Mildred Bates, of Portland; Mrs. Vera Uhl, of Charlotte, and Mrs. Ethel Lininger, of Lansing, are all sisters of the deceased. Mr. Reed, a World War I veteran, was a member of the American Legion.
