Lake Odessa Wave - Thursday July 16, 1959

William Reed Passed Away Saturday Eve.
William C. Reed, 61, route one, passed away Saturday night at the Blodgett 
Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids where he had been hospitalized about three 
weeks. He had been in ill health for several years and had been hospitalized 
intermittently.

A native of the Weldman area, he spent his early life there moving here with  
his family in 1922. He was employed by Smith Bros Elevator for a  number of 
years and farmed for a while after moving to his farm on Brown road. At the time 
of his death he was employed by the E.W. Bliss Co. at Hasting's.

Mr.Reed was a member of the Grace Brethren church.

Surviving are his wife the former Myrtie Carr, whom he married, September 5, 
1917; two daughters Mrs.Lloyd (Vivian) Shepard and Mrs.Donald (Shirley) Mast of 
rural Sunfield; four grandchildren and one sister Mrs.Lottie Koster of 
Peternorough, Ontario.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Pickens funeral Chapel with burial in 
Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. William Ernest officiated.
