Mrs. Reed was born at Tremayne Corners in 1858 and was married to Thomas Reed of Sebewa in 1878 and they celebrated their golden wedding in 1928. The husband died in 1933. They lived in Sebewa until coming to Lake Odessa in 1915. Until recent years Mrs. Reed has been a particularly strong woman for her age. She was the mother of ten children, one dying in infancy and a son Roy dying about four years ago .Surviving are: five sons, Ernest of Sebewa; Earl, Walter, James and Ray of Lake Odessa; three daughters, Mrs.Alice Townsend of Eagle, Mrs.Nellie Roush of Freeport, and Mrs.Hazel Bachelder of Grand Rapids; one brother Luke Harwood of Saranac; and two sisters, Mrs.Warren Brickley and Mrs.George Hazzard of Tremayne Corners; 27 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the home of the son Earl Reed and at 2:30 from the Methodist church. The Rev. C.E. Thies gave the sermon and Mrs. M.A. Hoffs played favorite songs of Mrs.Reed. Honorary and active pall bearers were grandsons of Mrs.Reed. Burial at Lakeside.
