James Gordon Reeder, aged 76, of Ionia, passed away Dec. 17, 2007.

He was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Collins, Mich., the son of Arthur and Helen 
(Payne) Reeder. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 1988. James 
married Shirley Boyce Nov. 9, 1959 in Greenville. He loved to hunt and fish 
and anything involving the outdoors.

James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Shirley Reeder of Ionia; 
children Gordon (Jeanine) Reeder of Palo, Louis (Julieann) Reeder of Chassel, 
Roger (Pam) Reeder of Muskegon, Penny Thomas of Caledonia and Teresa (Charles) 
Brown of Belding; sisters Joyce (Don) Paulsen of Canton, Jackie (Richard) 
Christiansen of Ionia and Jean (Gaylord) Edgerly of Charlotte; sister-in-law 
Gigi English of Carp Lake; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brother John Reeder, sister Kathy VanHeck and 
grandson Joshua Reeder.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Pastor Den Slattery officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. The 
family will receive friends and relatives Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you make contributions to the 
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
