Mr. Reeves was born in Otisco Township August 13, 1893, the son of Walter and Charlotte McCumber Reeves. He was married to Merle McGlasson August 2, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Reeves lived in Detroit where he taught in the schools for many years. He later taught in Grand Rapids Junior College. After his retirement from the board of education in July, 1955 he became a real estate broker in the Rockford area, returning to the place of his birth in 1962. Mr. Reeves was a veteran of World War I where he served in the navy. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Second Church of Christian Scientist in Grand Rapids. He was a life member of Lodge No. 355 F & AM and the Scottish Rites. Christian Scientist services were held Friday at the Huffman Funeral Home in Belding with Preston Smith of Grand Rapids as reader. Pallbearers were Dayton Reeves, Howard Reeves, Walter Reeves, Milan Reeves, Hubert Reeves, and Carlton Reeves. Interment was in the Otisco cemetery in his parent’s lot. He leaves three brothers, John of Orleans, Ben of Sparta, and Harlan of San Bernadino, California, and many nieces and nephews.
