The Ionia Standard, Friday, July 14, 1912
Fritz Reider, aged about 72 years and for many years a resident of Tremayne’s 
Corners, was found lying dead at 1 o’clock Tuesday by Charles Houghton, a 
young boy who had been doing the chores around the place for the old 
gentleman.  Reider had been living alone for some time and occupied a house to 
the south of Harwood’s store.  He had a small garden and kept some chickens 
and a cow.  Monday he went to Woodland to visit a daughter and upon his return 
last evening complained of not feeling well.  He was given the necessary 
attention, and was up bright and early this morning. At noon when Houghton 
went to do the chores he discovered the body lying near the back door steps.  
Dr. Maynard, living at the Corners was called, but death had occurred some 
time before.  From the position in which the body was lying it is supposed 
that the old man was ascending the back steps when stricken.  Sheriff’ Taylor 
and Coroner Clark were called and went to the scene of the death in the 
former’s auto, this afternoon, for purpose of holding an inquest.

After viewing the remains of Fritz Reider, who died at his home near 
Tremayne’s Corners on Tuesday, it was decided that no inquest was necessary by 
the sheriff and coroner, as the cause of death, heart disease, was apparent.   

Funeral on Tuesday at two o’clock, fast time, from the home of a stepdaughter, 
Mrs. Lorenzo Cain, in Berlin.  Mr. Reider is survived by two daughters and was 
72 years old.  Interment in Letts cemetery.
