PNEUMONIA CAUSED DEATH OF MRS. REMER
Mrs. Sophia Remer, fifty-one and wife of Chas. Remer, living at 539 Howard 
Street, died Saturday of pneumonia after fifteen hours of intense suffering.  
She had been in failing health for about three and one-half years.  Mrs. Remer 
was formerly Sophia Wichmann, was born in Germany and came to Ohio with her 
parents when two years of age.  About eight years later the family moved to 
Saginaw County, Michigan.  A few years later in 1881 she met and married Chas. 
Remer.

Mr. and Mrs. Remer lived near Saginaw for many years.  They moved from there 
to Clare, Michigan, where they lived two years, and from thence to Millersburg 
for nine years’ residence.  From Millersburg they came to Belding about five 
and one-half years ago.

Mrs. Remer was the mother of six children, four of whom still survive her.  
Fred, the oldest son, was accidentally killed in Millersburg while working in 
a saw mill several years ago.  Another child died in infancy.  The living is 
Edmund and Carl Remer, Mrs. Hulda Johnston of Belding and Ezra Remer of 
Detroit.  The other survivors are the husband and three brothers.  The 
brothers are Fred, Louis and William Wichmann, all of Saginaw.

Brief funeral services were held at the home at 1:15 Tuesday afternoon.  The 
principal services were at the Methodist church at 2:00 pm in charge of Rev. 
W. E. Doty.  Burial was made in River Ridge Cemetery.  Mrs. Remer was a member 
of the Ancient Order of Gleaners.  She had many friends in Belding and all of 
the cities in which she lived, who will mourn the loss of a true, noble woman.
