Remington, 167 East Washington street, who fell a week ago Sunday evening while on her way to attend services at the Church of Christ, and who since that time has been under the care of a trained nurse, died shortly after noon Monday. Last September Mrs. Remington celebrated her eighty-sixth birthday anniversary. She was born in the state of New York, but had been a resident of Ionia for many years. Her first husband, Henry J. Cheney, did in 1891. Three years later she was united in marriage to Wager T. Remington. He died three years ago last October. In the Church of Christ, of which she was a member for many years, Mrs. Remington was one of the most faithful workers. Mrs. Remington was also one of the oldest members of Queen Esther chapter, order of Eastern Star, and of Steven Thompson Mason chapter, D.A.R. At the last meeting of the D.A.R., held in January at the home of Mrs. Erean Welch, Mrs. Remington appeared on the program. She is survived by two stepsons, Malcom Remington, of Oregon, and Floyd Remington, of Detroit, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lillian Peake, of Grand Rapids, besides many grandnieces and grandnephews. Subsequent Publication, Friday, February 25, 1927 Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Remington were held from the Church of Christ Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. For the past years Mrs. Remington had been a member of the Ionia Church of Christ. She was always found in her pew on Sunday mornings and was present in the Sunday evening service as often as her health would permit her. The sermon was given by Rev. Herbert G. Herrell and the music was furnished by Mrs. George Fox. Members of the Stevens Thomson Mason chapter, D.A.R., Queen Esther chapter, Order of Eastern Star and Mrs. T. B. Preston’s Sunday school class of the Church of Christ attended the service. The bearers were Henry Robertson, William Robertson, A. J. White, F. S. Loree, Ben Cox, and T. B. Preston. The flowers were in charge of Mrs. H. Robertson, Mrs. George Coe, and Mrs. Frank Hall. Burial was made in the family lot at the Highland Park cemetery.
