When he was still a baby his family moved in Lake Odessa where he lived until he left to attend Valparaiso college, Valparaiso, Ind. After graduating from Valparaiso college, he secured a position as a bookkeeper with the J.L. Nichols Publishing Co., at Naperville, Ill. He worked for this firm for 22 years, 12 of them as manager. He made his home in Naperville and on June 6, 1908 married Grace Shafer, daughter of Anna and Levi Shafer of Naperville. On October 5, 1909, a daughter Constance was born and on April 7, 1917 twins, June and John. In 1936 he left the J.L. Nichols Co. and took a position as city salesman with Bradner Smith & Co., wholesale paper concern of Chicago, Ill. He was an employee of this company at the time of his death. He died in his home the morning of July 11, 1938. He leaves besides his wife and two children, two sisters, Orpha Rennels of Lake Odessa, Mich., and Mrs. George Keller of Hayti, So. Dak. The funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon, July 13, with Rev. Earl F. Collins of St. Johns, Mich., and Rev. Franklin D. Loehr of Naperville officiating.
