He was found by Clyde Russell and William Warner as they were driving along the road at about 9:30 a.m. The body appeared to have been dragged along the road for some distance and it was at first believed he had been struck by an auto with the probability that his clothing had caught on the car in such a manner that he was drawn after it. Investigation, it is believed, will establish that the death was due to natural causes, probably heart disease. Mr. Rennels had been leading a cow belonging to Andrew Girr_?, a neighbor. The cow was found beside the road some distance away. Examination of the body indicated, according to Undersheriff Henry Cook, that death came as the result of a heart attack. It is believed that, as he fell, Mr. Rennels must have become entangled in the rope by which he was leading the cow. The fall probably frightened the animal and in its rush forward it dragged the fallen man. Examination of the body is said to have proven no major bruises or laceration such as would have resulted had he been struck by an auto were found. Whether a further autopsy will be held probably will depend on the desire of the widow and the outcome of the coroner’s jury findings. Mr. Rennels had been a resident of Lake Odessa for some 35 years. So far as is known he never had been a sufferer from attacks of the kind which is believed to have caused his death. Rennels leaves a widow, Mrs. Ella Rennels, and three children, Henry, of Napiersville, Ill., Mrs. Keller, of Hazel, S.D., and Fay, of Grand Rapids.
