Born July 14th 1939 in Saranac Mi. Graduated from High School in 1957, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Oxnard,California until 1961. Was a member of the USAF track team & enjoyed the competition & travel. After the Air Force, Neil attended Occupational Therapy Assistant training & graduated from the first OTA class. He was a Certified OTA at a nursing home in Orchard Lake, Michigan, where he met & married Janice Marie Schiller in July 11th, 1964. Neil & Janice moved back to Saranac to start their family. Neil worked at General Motors/Bosch for 35 years, He was an active member of the Saranac Lions Club, Saranac Community Church & also obtained his EMT Certification. Neil proudly donated 22 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. He stopped donating after his first stroke in 2017. Flying was a passion for Neil. He attended yearly Airshows in Oshkosh, Wisconsin & purchased an ultralight which he never flew. Neil was diagnosed with vascular dementia after a second stroke. Survived by his wife of 60 years,Jan Renwick, daughters,Lyn(Chris)Booth, Amy (Curt) McElvain. Grandchildren, Taylor (Kyle) Rieth, Kiefer Simmons & Fiancee, Taylor Neumann, Connor McElvain, Layna McElvain & Fiance' Jeff Allen, Lauren Booth & Ryan Booth. Great-grandsons, Patrick & Charlie Rieth, Sisters, Julie Miller & Gayle (Richard) Peacock, and several nephews & nieces. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Heather Pierce & brothers-in-law Garry Miller & Danny Pierce. Funeral services will be held at the Saranac Community Church on Tuesday, June 10th at 1:00PM with Pastor Ethan Tews officiating. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Saranac Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, may make donations to Saranac Community Church or Saranac Fire Department. Arrangements in care of Lake funeral Home in Saranac.
