F. Reusch, 84, Petoskey watchmaker who was formerly of Ionia, died last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Mellon, at Indian Point on Crooked Lake. He was born in Ionia May 29, 1867, and lived his early life here. His late brother, Mose, was a Methodist minister and his sisters were employed here at one time, Rose with Mrs. Addie Caine in the millinery business and Lillian in the office of what is now Marshall-Wright. J.F. Reusch moved to Petoskey in 1897 as a watchmaker. He moved away to work as a watchmaker in Cleveland, O., and South Bend, Ind., before returning to Petoskey in 1906. He worked for Will Z. Searle until Searle’s death in 1926 when he established his own jewelry business in the Searle location. From 1932 until 1935 he was in partnership with Carl W. Peterson there. In 1935 he started another jewelry business in another location and continued there until he retired from active partnership in 1947. His business is now operated by his son, Fred H. Reusch. He is survived by his son and daughter and two grandchildren. Services were conducted at Petoskey.
