Rhodes, of Woodard lake area, died Wednesday evening in Baptist hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. according to information received by Leddick funeral home, where funeral arrangements were described as incomplete pending further information from family members. ------------ Funeral services for James Lewis Rhoades, 75, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Leddick funeral home. Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community church will officiate and interment will be at Tuttle cemetery. Mr. Rhoades of Woodard Lake, former Ionia resident, died at Baptist hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla., Wednesday evening. He had been in failing health the past several months and was enroute home from Arizona where he had spent the winter when he was taken ill in Oklahoma City. Born in Saranac, December 6, 1895, he was the son of Calvin and Lillian McNeal Rhoades. He attended grade school in Saranac before moving to Ionia where he attended and graduated from Ionia high school. He entered the army during World War I and after returning to Ionia was employed at Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company and Ionia Manufacturing Company as foreman or supervisor. He lived on West Main several years before moving to Woodard Lake three years ago. He was a member of Ionia Elks lodge and American Legion post. Surviving are his wife, Hattie; a son, Keith of Grand Rapids and daughter, Mrs. Duane Bidinger of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren.
