Belding - George C. Rhodes, 77, of Belding, passed away Friday, March 15, 2002,
at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, Grand Rapids.  He was born Sept. 17,
1924, the son of R. Dewey and Reva Harrington Rhodes.  George was a graduate of
Belding High School, class of 1943.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving
as a combat engineer for 2 ½ years.  George worked at Jordan Manufacturing for
31 years, retiring in 1988 as a foreman.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church and American Legion Post 203, where he had served as financial officer,
club board member and the Drum and Bugle Corps.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Kennedy Rhodes, whom he married on April 12,
1947, in Belding; their children, Nancy and David Roush of Ionia, George D. and
Anne Rhodes of Belding; grandchildren, Mathew, Jeffrey, Chris, Jason, Kristy,
Melisa, Malinda, Justin; four great-grandchildren; his sister and
brother-in-law, Dean and Linton Harwood; brother, Dusty Rhodes, sister-in-law,
Pauline Rhodes all of Belding.   George was preceded in death by his parents;
his second mother, Nemma Rhodes Hatfield; his brother, Edward; his sisters, Ida
Bell Bills, Beverly McMeeken and Evelyn Mason.

Funeral and committal services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral
Home, Belding, with Deacon Howard Scheid of St. Joseph Catholic Church
officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Garden, Belding. 
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be
made to St. Joseph School.
