July 17, 2012 Victor D. "Dusty" Rhodes, 90, of Belding, died Saturday afternoon, July 14, 2012 at home under the loving care of his family, Spectrum Hospice and Denise Hanses. Dusty was born on May 27, 1922 in Belding the son of Ransome and Reva (Harrington) Rhodes. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army as a medic in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, the American Legion Post No. 203 and VFW Post No. 4406, both of Belding, and of the Veterans Association-32nd Division. He had worked for Michigan Consolidated Gas Co., now DTE Energy, for 32 years, retiring in 1986. Dusty enjoyed family time, camping, fishing and wintering in Texas. He was married on Nov. 3, 1945 in Belding to Marjory Kennedy and she preceded Dusty in 1996. He was also preceded by his parents; his second mother, Nemma Hatfield; his son, John Rhodes; two brothers, Edward and George; three sisters, Beverly, Idabelle and Evelyn. Dusty is loved and survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Scott Hill of Ponder, Texas; his grandchildren, Chanda and Rudy Gonzalez, Jessica Hill, Shelby Hill, Kevin, Kyle and Derik Hanses; one great grandchild, Logan Willingham; his sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Linton Harwood; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-aw, John and Connie Kennedy, all of Belding. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Father Mike Cilibraise presiding. Committal prayers will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Military honors will be given by the Honor Guard of Belding VFW Post No. 4406. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
