Rhody, 89, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Evangelical House in Saline. Donald was born on March 4, 1918 in Berlin Township, near Capac, the son of Gustav and Rachael Jane Nye Rhody. He was married on June 20, 1941, in Capac to Barbara Ann Gleason. He proudly served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1944 and again during the Korean War from 1952 to 1953. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1949. Donald and Barbara moved to Belding in 1950 and began his dental office serving the Belding area for more than 36 years, retiring in May 1986. Following retirement, Donald enjoyed spending time in the Paradise area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Donald was a life member of the Belding Masonic Lodge No. 355 F. & A.M., having recently received his 60-year membership pin. He also held life memberships in the Sheridan VFW, the American Dental Association and the West Michigan Dental Association. Donald also was a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, the Washington Club, the Goodfellowship Club, the Belding Bridge Club, the Belding Dance Club, Friends of the Belding Library and First Congregational Church of Belding since 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gordon; and one sister Genevieve. Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara; their daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jane and Eugene Hopkins of Ann Arbor; and one granddaughter, Amanda Brie Hopkins. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Byron Davey officiating. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and is 1 p.m. Sunday, one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Belding library.
