Rivers II, 20, son of Orville Rivers of Ionia and Mrs. Almeda Cronkright of Warren, was found dead in his car in the garage of his father’s Holland Lake cottage in Montcalm county at 10 a.m., Sunday. Montcalm county sheriff’s offices said the Ionia youth had died of accidental carbon monoxide asphyxiation. The car had been driven into the garage during the night, officers said, was still running when discovered. A Sheridan physician was called. A 1963 graduate of Ionia high school, young Rivers had been attending barber’s school in Detroit during the past nine months. He had been living with his mother in Warren. He was born May 26, 1945 in Lansing, the son of Almeda Hoyt and Orville H. Rivers. The family moved to Ionia in 1952 where Mr. Rivers is a businessman. Orville was a member of the Presbyterian church of Ionia where services are to be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Manson H. Lowe of Muir Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be at Balcom cemetery on Tuttle road. Surviving are his father and mother, a sister, Mrs. Sherry Fruend of Westphalia; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Gwinner and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Agatha Fairbanks both of Lansing.
