Blanchard A. Rice, 83, of Portland, died Aug. 3, 2005 at a Delta Township 
nursing home.

Mr. Rice was born in Danby Township Sept. 1, 1921, a son of Blanchard E. and 
Grace (Allen) Rice.  He was a Michigan State University graduate, World War II 
Army Air Force veteran and retired from the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage-Hour 
Division.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Sindlinger); sons, Larry (Linda) Rice of 
Portland and Donald (Mary) Rice of Byron; four grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren and several nephews.

Visitation was held at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken.  Interment was in 
Danby Cemetery.  Honorary bearers were Holly and Rob Binns, Jim and Nicole 
Klein, Dan Rice and Heather and Tim Storey.  Contributions may be made to the 
National Parkinson’s Association.
